Snapshots
What is the inner monologue of a woman as she experiences the joys, sorrows, challenges and inevitable change that life brings? Snapshots evokes moments in the life of an “everywoman” by using song and poetry to convey her thoughts, feelings, relationships, and experiences. Snapshots looks at this not so much from the angle of “what” is the woman doing, but the “how” does she feel about what is happening to her. Reflection is at the heart of transformation. Søren Kierkegaard wrote, “Life can only be understood backwards, but must be lived forwards.” The woman in Snapshots recounts past moments in her life and her reflections help her to find peace in the present. The songs come from a variety of shows and composers and are interspersed with poetry by Alice’s mother, Patricia Hernan Grube.
